ScyllaDB is unifying our language-specific ScyllaDB drivers by translating them to bindings to our low-latency Rust driver. This talk looks at why we're taking that approach, what we've achieved so far (with examples from our C++ and Node.js drivers), and what we're optimizing next.

Wojciech Przytuła, Senior Software Engineer, ScyllaDB

Wojciech is a Senior Software Engineer at ScyllaDB, and a huge Rust’s enthusiast. He obtained a MSc in Computer Science from the University of Warsaw, having ported an embedded operating system (TockOS) written in Rust. Now, as a passionate teaching assistant, he tries to explain to students how computers work (Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Concurrent Programming) and evangelizes them about Rust’s superiority. His hobby is taking photos of the Scylla mascot in his journeys, mainly high in mountains.

Karol Baryła, Senior Software Engineer, ScyllaDB

Karol is a Software Engineer at ScyllaDB. He works in the Drivers Team, where he co-maintains ScyllaDB Rust Driver and Python Driver. Passionate about Rust programming language and security, he has spent a lot of time in the past playing CTF comptetitions. Karol holds an Msc in Computer Science from the University of Warsaw.
